Highlighter plot of selected HERV-K RcREs. The sequences of the eighteen RcREs identified in this study that mapped to specific gene regions, were aligned to the prototypical RcRE. Mismatches are indicated by the colored lines. The sequences are listed according to the order in which they were tested in the results section. The results for the first four sequences are shown in Fig. 2 and the results for the next 11 sequences are shown in Fig. 4a, b. The remaining 3 sequences were not tested. Sequence identity of the selected RcREs to the prRcRE ranged from 94.0 to 98.2%
