From: Primary T-cells from human CD4/CCR5-transgenic rats support all early steps of HIV-1 replication including integration, but display impaired viral gene expression

Reverse transcription and nuclear import of de novo synthesized HIV-1 cDNA are well supported in T-cells from hCD4/hCCR5-transgenic rats. Primary T-cells from a human donor or from transgenic rats were exposed to YU-2 Env pseudotyped HIV-1NL4-3E- GFP. At the indicated time points, post-infection samples were taken from cultures, and the relative levels of 2-LTR circles in cell extracts were scored by quantitative PCR. The percentage of GFP-positive cells at day 4 after infection is given in parentheses.
