Restriction of HIV-1 by rhTRIM5α is reduced following SUMO-1 knockdown. The TE671 empty vector control cell line or the FLAG-rh TRIM5α expressing cell line were transduced with a retroviral vector encoding a non-silencing shRNA (white bars), or a SUMO-1 specific shRNA (black bars) and selected by antibiotic resistance. A. The different cell lines were infected with an HIV-1 firefly luciferase reporter virus pseudotyped with VSV-G envelope. 48 hours post infection, luciferase activity was measured.
