p30 and IFN response. The p30 protein inhibits interferon responsive genes following stimulation by LPS and poly(IC), which respectively activate toll-like receptors TLR4 and TLR3. The p30 protein suppresses the interferon response in a PU.1 dependent manner, leading to reduced STAT1 phosphorylation, probably mediated by the STAT1 negative regulator, SOCS. This molecular event inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such MCP1, TNF-α, IL-8, and others, but increases the release of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 in macrophages
