RelB enhances Tat transactivation of HIV-1 LTR. a Illustration of the luciferase reporter system. b–d HeLa cells (0.5 × 105) were cotransfected with a reporter construct containing the HIV-1 LTR upstream of the luciferase gene (100 ng) and indicated plasmids (100 ng). To normalize transfection efficiency, phRluc-TK (1 ng) was co-transfected. Total DNA amounts were adjusted to 500 ng with an empty vector. After 48 h, luciferase activities were measured. The Rel. Luc. Act in the figure was calculated relative to normalized luciferase activity of pHIV-1-LTR-luc with Tat (with or without RelB/p100) and vectors co-transfected cells. The histogram shows mean ± SD of at least three independent experiments. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01 (paired t test)
