From: Apoptosis-induced activation of HIV-1 in latently infected cell lines
HIV-1 activation in response to apoptosis induction in U1 cells. The figure shows the relationship between HIV-1 replication and apoptosis triggered by cytotoxic drugs: (a) etoposide, (b) doxorubicin, (c) vincristine and (d) fludarabine phosphate. Apoptosis and HIV-1 activation was assessed as mentioned in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. Spearman correlation coefficient (ρ) for apoptosis vs. HIV-1 activation for all the drugs was ≥ 0.9.
