Schematic illustration showing the mechanism by which GAPDH negatively regulates HIV- 1 infection. A single copy of each molecule is shown for simplicity. As described in detail elsewhere [20, 26, 27], a Pr55gag/p160gag-pol/viral RNA complex interacts with a tRNALys3/LysRS complex. Although the actual conformation of the Pr55gag/p160gag-pol/viral RNA complex is still unclear, findings of this study suggest that GAPDH and tRNALys3/LysRS complex may compete with each other for interaction with the binding site within Pr55gag and p160gag-pol.
