Gag processing and release of virions. (A) Phosphorimages of SDS-PAGE gels of immunoprecipitations of 35S pulse-chase-labeled Gag protein immunoprecipitates are presented for cell and viral lysates from HeLa cells transiently transfected with either pNLenv or pNLenv S40F. (B) Percentage of Gag released from the cell presented as the amount of Gag found in virus particles versus the total amount of Gag recovered form cell and virus lysates. (C) The rate of CA processing was estimated by calculating the ratio of mature CA p24 versus the CA precursor p25 detected in the cell and virus lysates at different time points.
