  1. 1Values represent the mean of 10 simulations, expressed as the percentage of all cells (plus standard deviation in brackets). Scenarios (S#) with identical assumptions are grouped under the variable of interest for comparison. For example, the scenarios which have an identical proportion of hematopoietic stem cells transduced with the gene therapeutic (HSC+) are grouped together. The number of shRNAs to which the virus is resistant is denoted as m (for mutations), i.e. m = 0 (wt virus with no mutations in the shRNA target sites), m = 1 (virus with mutations conferring resistance to 1 shRNA), and m = 2 (virus with mutations conferring resistance to 2 shRNAs).
