From: HIV-1 Vif N-terminal Motif is required for recruitment of Cul5 to Suppress APOBEC3
Several Vif N-terminal mutants are unable to degrade APOBEC3G and APOBEC3F. Vif wild-type and mutant proteins along with A3G or A3F were overexpressed in HEK 293Â T cells. Two days post-transfection, cells were lysed and proteins were separated by SDS-PAGE and visualized by western blotting. A) APOBEC3F-V5 and B) APOBEC3G-V5 are efficiently degraded by wild-type Vif, but not by several Vif N-terminal mutants in HEK 293Â T cells.
