(C), peak viremia between weeks 0 to 6.5 post infection, in healthy (asymptomatic) and symptomatic (euthanized) cats. The average value (largest horizontal bar, –) is plotted for each group. Equal volumes of plasma were normalized using an external RNA spike and analyzed as detailed in Materials and Methods for the presence of FIV RNA by reverse-transcription real-time quantitative PCR. * indicate average values in (C) differ significantly (p ≤ 0.05).
